Sambousak
Ingredients
dough:
- 4 cups Flour
- 1/2 cup Sunflower oil
- 1. 1/2 cups water you might need extra water, depending on your choice of flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
Filling
- 400 g Ground lean beef
- 1 big onion
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 mini handful pine nut
- 4 tbsp Sunflower oil Add butter for extra flavor
Instructions
- Prepare the dough:In a bowl, pour flour and salt.Dissolve sugar in olive oil, incorporate oil and water to the flour.Knead using a stand mixer until the dough becomes elastic
- Prepare the filling: Combine the onion and oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until the onions are soft, add the beef and brown them, add the spices and season.Let the filling cool down
- Shape the sambousak:Divide the dough into small balls. Form flat circles by flattening each ball. Top with 1 tsp of filling and fold over. Press the edges together by following the pattern of a half moon or mini banana. Close well the edges.
- Deep frying: Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a pan, fry the Sambousak pies until golden. Serve
